                                               Ms. Christine Facella

Welcome to the Riverbank Unified School District.  We are a Transitional Kindergarten (TK) through 12 school district with two elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and one continuation high school.  We are also the authorizing board for the Riverbank Language Academy, a dual language dependent charter school.  I am honored to serve the students and families in Riverbank, a community that I have been part of since 2005.  I started at Rio Altura Elementary as an assistant principal, and then served as the high school principal and assistant superintendent.

Riverbank Unified provides options for families looking to broaden their students’ language abilities.  In addition to the Riverbank Language Academy, we also enroll students in the Riverbank Academy of Multilingual Education (RAME), a program within the California Avenue Elementary School.  RAME provides students with a dual language program that also includes Mandarin culture and language.  For the first time in 2019-2020, we are offering Mandarin as a world language elective starting in the seventh grade at Cardozo Middle School.

Riverbank High School provides students looking for Advance Placement opportunities many choices.  Along with AP offerings in English and Math, we have Advanced Placement courses in Environmental Sciences, Art Studio, Spanish, and History.  Students have CTE Pathways in Technology, Culinary Arts, and Building and Construction Trades.  In 2019-2020, we implemented a Health Sciences introductory course that will be the start of our newest pathway.

Our core curriculum includes blended learning with all students having access to one-to-one technology.  Students in grades one through twelve use Chrome Books while our TK and Kindergarten students have access to iPads.  Seventh through twelfth graders, take their Chrome Books home for academic use.  Understanding that not all students have adequate access to internet, we have collaborated with Sprint on a grant to provide internet through wireless internet access points for students in need.

There are many other exciting things happening at all of our school sites.  We encourage parents to attend school events and activities as well as get involved in parent/teacher organizations.  I look forward to working collaboratively with all stakeholders toward the success of all of our students.
