What do you want for our students?
At the board meeting on April 12, 2016 Dr. Camp urged parents, students, staff and the entire Riverbank community to become involved in conversations about how to support students. For the past few months the District and professional associations have not been able to come to an agreement on such items as salaries, benefits and full-day kindergarten. Over the last few years the District has invested a significant amount of resources to increase and improve services for students. If you have an interest in creating the best educational setting for students with the resources we have, then please attend and participate in at least one of the following gatherings:

Negotiations with the Riverbank Teachers Association continues to be a priority for the district. Over the last year, in addition to the negotiation sessions that have taken place during the school day, the District has offered to meet during the summer, after school hours and on weekends in an effort to come to an agreement in a timely manner. At the last negotiation session on March 3rd the district proposed a 5% salary increase for the 2015-16 school year and the Riverbank Teachers Association's last proposal included a 9.5% salary increase for 2015-16 or a 7.5% salary increase for 2015-16, a 5.5% increase for 2016-17 and a 4.5% increase for 2017-18. Both of RTA's proposals also include an increase to the health and welfare benefit cap. At the negotiation session on Tuesday, March 15, RTA and the District's negotiators agreed to declare an impasse. As a condition of impasse, the Public Employee Relation Board (PERB) will provide a mediator to assist RTA and the District in reaching an agreement.

The attached presentation was presented at the Riverbank Unified School District school board meeting on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.

The purpose of the presentation was to share and discuss the current fiscal condition of the school district. It is important for everyone in the community to be aware of the budget as it is a guide for resource allocation to support students. In all school districts a major portion of a school district budget is personnel. The compensation for employees is determined through a collective bargaining process, usually referred to as negotiations. I’m pleased that the Riverbank Teachers Association (RTA) and the Classified School Employees Association (CSEA) are working with the District’s negotiation team through the negotiations process and am confident that an agreement will be achieved.
In order to be transparent, you will be able view all exchanged proposals on our website – click here.
Once again, I’m confident an agreement will be reached through the negotiations process. RUSD’s website has information on the multiple steps in the negotiation process – please click here. Over the last few years, the District has worked to make decisions that will improve the educational environment for our students while maintaining fiscal solvency. I look forward to continuing to work with the Riverbank community to support our students.
The District and RTA have scheduled the following dates for continued negotiations;
There are currently no dates scheduled for negotiations with CSEA.
